Why fearless video?

Some stories only get told when the right person is in the room.

Fearless Video is an award-winning, Black woman-owned production company specializing in documentary film, branded storytelling, and cultural impact content. We work with organizations, institutions, and brands that understand what it means to invest in a story done right — because they know the difference between content that performs and work that endures.

Our projects have aired on Hulu, PBS, and NBC and everywhere online reaching over 20 million viewers. Has helped win elections and awards. Been trusted at some of the most consequential cultural and political moments of the last decade.

What makes us different isn’t a credential. It’s a point of view — and the proximity to use it.

Who Is FEarless?

Fearless Video was born from a conviction that only lived experience could teach.

In 2020 general election cycle, Julian C. Hamer and Yessica Hernandez-Cruz met on the video teams for Vice President Kamala Harris . They co-directed “Kamala Harris is Us,” the Vice President’s DNC introduction video that reached over 20 million people.

As a team of women, primarily women of color, they understood firsthand the gravity and importance of handling the Vice President’s story and narrative with the care and compassion that only comes from shared experience. That kind of stewardship — knowing what it means to hold a story that belongs to your community — is what it took to tell that story right. And it’s what they built Fearless Video to embody.

Fearless launched in January 2021 to make that conviction permanent: that the most powerful stories require storytellers who bring cultural competence, proximity, and deep empathy to the work. Stories that make you feel something. Stories that offer a genuine glimpse into someone else’s experience, perspective, and truth.

In 2024, Julian became the sole owner and leader of Fearless Video — carrying that founding mission forward with expanded creative vision and sharpened focus. Now in its fifth year, Fearless has built an award-winning body of work with organizations including the United Way of Central Maryland, Color of Change, Black Public Media, the NAACP, Echoing Green, The Afro, Hulu, PBS, NBC, and others.

Still here. Still fearlessly making work that matters.
