Julian C. Hamer is an award-winning filmmaker, director, producer, and cinematographer — and the founder and sole owner of Fearless Video Productions.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Julian’s work is rooted in the belief that the most important stories are the ones that haven’t been told yet — and that telling them right requires someone who understands them from the inside.

Her first feature documentary, If Walls Could Talk, followed artists in Baltimore’s Sandtown-Winchester community in the immediate aftermath of the 2015 uprising — capturing a community in the act of making beauty out of grief.

In 2020, Julian led the women-of-color video teams for Vice President Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign and the Biden-Harris general election. She co-directed and served as Director of Photography for “Kamala Harris is Us” — the Vice President’s DNC introduction video that reached over 20 million viewers. That work became the foundation for Fearless Video, which she co-founded in January 2021 and has led as sole owner since 2024.

Under her leadership, Fearless has produced and directed work for the United Way of Central Maryland’s centennial campaign, Hulu’s The 1619 Project, Color of Change, Black Public Media, the NAACP, Echoing Green, The Afro, PBS, NBC, and others. Fearless Video’s Covid Conversations series earned a Bronze Anthem Award in 2024. Her current docuseries, Represent: Deja Foxx on the Trail, is streaming now.

Julian also has a documentary in development — about her great-grandmother, Hilda Mason, the longest-serving elected official in DC’s history and one of the most consequential progressive voices of the 20th century.

Julian is a member of the Producers Guild of America, the Documentary Producers Alliance, Brown Girls Documentary Mafia, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
